Sunday in the Park with George

Theatre! It was lovely. I know little about George Seurat, much less about Sondheim and knew nothing about the show before I went. I did know that it had bits from a contemporary/review point of view on Seurat, but I thought that was Jules and his wife until the second act.

On the tram home, one person told their friend that they had not expected it to be sad, only to get the response: “It is Sondheim.”

I loved the music. The costumes were interesting. I get the way the colour worked, but I wasn’t quite sure about it. The contemporary costumes were great. The art stuff was fantastic. After having such an arty day the last couple of days, it was inspiring all over again.
